In November 2011 we suffered a leak from the mains water supply to our flat. The leak lasted less than 10 minutes. However, almost five months later we’ve yet to return to our home.

Our building is insured by Axa, which appointed loss adjusters. Its loss adjusters moved us (at our insistence) to alternative accommodation as our six-year-old son’s room was uninhabitable. It also appointed a contractor to assess the repair to our flat, and this is where it all went wrong.

The contractor concluded the damage to the lower half of our walls was due to a pre-existing rising-damp condition and the insurer was not liable. Our home was fitted with a damp-proof course 15 years ago by the previous owner.

General Motors filed a recall on more than 44,000 2009-2010 Cadillac CTS cars with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration because of a problem with the rear suspension the manufacturer feared could cause drivers to lose control of their cars.

A wax coating on part of the rear axle could cause bolts in the back of the car to loosen, GM told the NTHSA, which would result on a loud clanking noise close from behind the driver’s seat.

If the bolt came loose entirely, however, the rear wheels could spin inward or outward, and the driver would be unable to regain control of their motion, potentially leading to a car accident.

Dealerships have been instructed to clean off the wax from the affected areas and install two replacement jam nuts, all of which will be done free of charge to Cadillac customers.

Car accidents or damages caused by design defects in a car model are covered by auto insurance.

Our vehicle was in a car park at North Manchester General Hospital when it was struck by another car reversing into the next bay, causing damage along its full length. The driver of the other vehicle admitted liability and, while our car was being repaired through his insurer, we were provided with a hire car through ours, the AA. This was done via Claimfast, described by the AA as “one of our in-house companies”.

The accident happened in June last year. We have now received correspondence from Claimfast stating that the other party’s insurer has not paid the cost of the car hire and that we might have to attend court if it takes proceedings against the other driver.

The iconic Batmobile from the 1995 production of Batman Forever was recently sold at a Fort Lauderdale auction for $233,000.

Though the vehicle has a proud new owner, don’t expect to see it on the road anytime soon. At 25 feet long and with a 10.5-foot tail fin on the back, the car will likely never meet federal vehicle safety standards.

The Wall Street Journal reported the vehicle was expected to go for anywhere between $200,000 and $275,000, which may sound expensive for a car that can’t be driven, but according to some sources, it was merely a fraction of the vehicle’s original cost.

The film’s producer Tim Burton may have spent nearly $2.8 million for the vehicle.

Now that the old Batmobile has been sold, rumors are starting to spring up about the vehicles that will appear in the upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
